17³Ô¹Ï’s annual Career Fair is expanding! For the first time we’ll be offering the 17³Ô¹Ï Career & Majors Fair where employers will sit side-by-side with faculty from our academic majors to showcase how 17³Ô¹Ï pathways can lead to employment opportunities in our region. This year’s fair, as in the past, aims to attract current 17³Ô¹Ï students and community members looking for careers, as well as prospective 17³Ô¹Ï students and those still deciding on their career path.

WHAT'S YOUR TYPE?: A skills workshop for undecided students

Thursday, Feb. 27 at noon in Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center Rm. 123

Identify your personality type to help explore soft skills & career paths that may be a good fit for you. Students are expected to complete a Myers Briggs assessment before the event. Lunch provided.

17³Ô¹Ï's Employment Readiness Specialist, Lisa Baldyga, will help students update resumes and gain unique ideas for being a memorable candidate with employers. Lunch provided. 

speed prepping workshop

Tuesday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the Osterlin Building

This fast-paced workshop will help students gain tips for success from experts, covering everything from how to dress, to being confident at the fair, to how to follow up with employers after the fair. Food & prizes!

  • Is the fair in a new location this year?

    • Yes! This year's Career Fair is expanding in many ways, including to a new location at the in downtown Traverse City.
    • What else makes this year's fair different?

      • The fair will showcase 17³Ô¹Ï program pathways while also continuing to offer regional employment opportunities.
      • This will not only give current 17³Ô¹Ï students and community members opportunities looking for careers, but also prospective 17³Ô¹Ï students and those still deciding on their career path.
      • This year's event will feature more employers then previous years!
    • should I come even if I'm not actively looking for a job/ to go back to school?

      • Yes! The fair is a great way to practice your professional communication skills, to see what jobs are available in your field, and to explore other career paths that are out there. It is not everyday you can meet a business owner or HR rep in person, so we encourage you to network!

      • HOW DO I KNOW WHO WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE?

        • We will keep an up-to-date list of employers that are attending on our website so you can plan in advance. Check back soon!
      • WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE/ BRING?

        • Dress the part, whatever that looks like in your field. When in doubt, dress more professionally than you think is needed.
        • Bring copies of your resume, pen & paper to the event with you.
        • Think about important questions you want to ask about the companies you plan to talk to and having a list ready.
        • I'm nervous! will anyone be there to help me?

          • We totally understand! 17³Ô¹Ï staff will greet you at the event and can talk you through navigating the event. 
          • Academic & Career Advisors will also be available to talk through your concerns or guide you before you jump into the event.
          • Our partners at Networks Northwest & MI Works will be on hand to help with reviewing or printing resumes.
          • Veterans in attendance will have a separate space dedicated to their unique needs and learning more about community resources.
          • 17³Ô¹Ï students will have workshops available on campus ahead of the event to assist in advance planning to bring your best self to the Fair!

          • We will have a dozen Academic Areas on site to help you learn more about programs offered by 17³Ô¹Ï and career pathways available regionally. You can also expect to see our friends from Academic & Career Advising, Admissions, Financial Aid and Extended Education & Training at the event. Even if you do not see your area of interest listed below, the staff at the event are able to help answer questions about what other programs would look like as a student attending 17³Ô¹Ï.
