Estimating Michigan Reconnect (MREC) Awards
17³Ô¹Ï’s experience in the 2024–25 award year for Michigan Reconnect was that 90% of our MREC participants, regardless of county of residence, received full coverage of tuition and fee cost of attendance from combined federal, State and local scholarships and grants.
You may not see all of your State of Michigan amounts in your financial aid offer initially. This is because you have to be registered for classes in order to calculate your award amounts. They are based on the actual tuition and fee charges. Once you are registered for classes, your aid will be calculated within 10 days. Likewise, 17³Ô¹Ï scholarships will be awarded year-round, with most completed by June 1.
MREC is awarded as follow:
- Last-dollar tuition and fee award after Pell Grant and other tuition-restricted State aid. This is awarded to all students in MREC regardless of financial need.
- For in-district (Grand Traverse) students, it covers all tuition and fees; for out-of-district students, it covers tuition at the in-district rate and all fees. Additionally, if they are Pell-eligible, their Pell and MREC can work together to cover 100% of tuition and fees
- We are seeing awards up to $11,000 in total.
