Clock/Credit Hour Conversion Programs

About Clock/Credit Conversion

Some certificate programs offered at 17勛圖 are considered clock-hour to credit-hour conversion by the Department of Education. Federal regulation requires colleges to convert hours for the programs listed below. Students enrolled in the following program may receive less in federal student aid than the amounts indicated on their award letters.

Determination of enrollment status for federal student aid purposes is different because the courses in this program cannot be fully counted towards the completion of a two-year associate degree program. Financial aid enrollment status for this program involves determining for each course the clock/contact hours a student may sit for each semester. The total contact hours are multiplied by weeks in the semester then divided by 37 to obtain the number of converted credit hours. The converted credits are then used to determine the enrollment status of students for prorating Pell Grant and for loan eligibility.

What This May Mean To You

The Federal Pell Grant reflected in your award is based on pre-converted enrollment in credit hours. Once converted, we disburse the Pell Grant for the adjusted enrollment level.

Note: Tuition and fee charges are NOT reduced based on this formula. Financial aid does not pay for courses outside of the official program of study. Check your MAP (My Academic Plan) if you have questions about what you need for your program.
