Estimating Michigan Community College Guarantee (MCCG) Awards
Overall, 17³Ô¹Ï’s experience in the first year of awarding Michigan Guarantee (2024-25) was that 94% of our MCCG participants, regardless of county of residence, received full coverage of tuition and fee cost of attendance from combined federal, State and local scholarships and grants.
You may not see all of your State of Michigan amounts in your financial aid offer initially. This is because you have to be registered for classes in order to calculate your award amounts. They are based on the actual tuition and fee charges. Once you are registered for classes, your aid will be calculated within 10 days. Likewise, 17³Ô¹Ï scholarships will be awarded year-round, with most completed by June 1.
MCCG has two parts to the awards:
- Last-dollar tuition and fee award after Pell Grant and other tuition-restricted aid. This is awarded to all students in MCCG regardless of financial need.
- For in-district (Grand Traverse) students, it covers all tuition and fees; for out-of-district students, it covers tuition at the in-district rate and all fees. Additionally, if they are Pell-eligible, their Pell and MCCG can work together to cover 100% of tuition and fees
- A $1,000 Bonus for Pell-eligible students that can be used for books, transportation, housing, etc.
- We are seeing awards up to $11,000 in total

Through the generosity of the 17³Ô¹Ï Foundation, 17³Ô¹Ï has committed to provide Northwest Ed Career Tech graduates with MCCG, regardless of county of residence, full free tuition and fees if they are eligible for a Pell grant at any level of qualification. This will be accomplished through combined state, federal and 17³Ô¹Ï grants and scholarships.
