Meetings are Fridays from  8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. typically on Zoom.

How to PARTICIPATE IN SGA

  • SGA meetings are open for any student to come and observe. If you wish to make comment at an SGA meeting, please complete the .
  • There are two options for becoming an active voting member of SGA. You must have 6 credit hours, a 2.0 GPA (new students are exempt from the GPA requirement), complete , and complete one of the following:

    • Have a department nominate you —  OR
    • Have students nominate you — .

All forms must be returned to Student Life no later than the fourth week of the semester.

Are you a student group leader interested in finding out more about student group activities or collaborating with other student groups? Join us the second Friday of the month, during Fall and Spring Semesters, for lunch and collaboration in the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center (TJNIC). Our meetings are the 3rd Wednesday for Fall 2024 in the TJNIC. For more information, email SGA at sga@mail.nmc.edu.

2022–23 Accomplishments

  • Provided funds to 7 17³Ô¹Ï student groups.
  • Implemented a $100 start up gift for each new student group.
  • Organized monthly Hawk Owl Leadership Coalition (HOLC) gatherings for student group collaboration.
  • Offered a Winter Carnival Event with Student Life to increase student group membership.
  • Offered a "tabling for student voices" event to gather feedback from students.
  • Participated in Student Cybersecurity Awareness Rally (SCARy).
  • Developed a Rubric and Spreadsheet to consistently evaluate student group proposals.
  • Started interactive Slack Channels for both SGA and HOLC members.
  • Four members and two advisors are attending the ASGA Conference in Orlando, Fla.

2021–22 Accomplishments

  • Provided funds to 12 17³Ô¹Ï student groups
  • Three members and two advisors attended ASGA Conference in Orlando, Fla.
