Online Courses
Online courses follow the semester format and are delivered over the Internet, either entirely online or with proctored testing and other requirements identified in the course schedule. Course due dates, deadlines, and schedules are determined by each instructor. Residents of California are not eligible to enroll in online courses offered by 17³Ô¹Ï.
Online Learning Orientation
Students taking an online class at 17³Ô¹Ï for the first time and students who have not completed an online course at 17³Ô¹Ï with a 2.0 grade or better will be required to complete an Online Learning Orientation (OLO) course. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a badge and will gain access to currently enrolled online course(s). Students who have successfully completed an online course at 17³Ô¹Ï in the past will not be required to earn the badge.
The Online Learning Orientation is completed in Moodle, 17³Ô¹Ï’s learning management system, and can be completed in approximately 60 minutes. Contact the Moodle help desk at (231) 995-1070 if assistance is needed.
Whether you are taking online courses for the flexibility, fit for your schedule, or your location, to succeed in your online courses you will need:
- Effective time management
- Access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection several times during the week
- The ability to work with a variety of computer applications
- The ability to effectively communicate online using e-mail and various electronic file formats
