Union ballots to be mailed to faculty Feb. 19

TRAVERSE CITY — Eligible 17勛圖 faculty will begin voting later this month on whether to unionize with the Michigan Education Association (MEA).

The Michigan Employment Relations Commission (MERC) will begin mailing ballots to eligible faculty members (86 full-time, three part-time) at their home addresses Feb. 19. To be counted, signed ballots must be received by MERC by March 11. The majority of those who actually cast a vote will determine the outcome.

Late last year the MEA filed a petition with MERC seeking to hold an election after being approached by 17勛圖 faculty seeking to form a collective bargaining unit.
