How To Apply for Admission

International students are integral members of the 17吃瓜 campus community. We are grateful to our international students for bringing a wealth of global and cultural experiences which adds to 17吃瓜’s already diverse student body and contributes to our overall mission of campus-wide internationalization. 17吃瓜 has a long history of welcoming international students and we hope you are next!

​Important Application Steps

1. 
   At 17吃瓜, we offer primarily associate degrees and certificate programs. We do not offer graduate programs. We offer one bachelor program in Marine Technology. *Please note that, due to Federal Regulations, the Maritime Academy programs (Maritime Deck Officer, Maritime Engineering Officer, and Maritime Power Plant Facilities Officer) are not available for international students. Certificate programs are generally not suitable for international students as they will not easily meet immigration requirements. .
2. Gather all required original supporting documents including:
   1. Original bank statements translated to English and showing available funds to cover your first year of educational expenses in the amount of no less than USD $25,130. These:
      1. Must be dated within the last 30 days;
      2. Must be in the name of the person(s) providing your financial support;
      3. Must be in English or accompanied by an official English translation; and
      4. Must be shown in United States Dollars (USD).
      5. Please note that the following documents are NOT acceptable:
         1. Statements verifying employment and salary;
         2. Insurance premiums and policies;
         3. Property or personal assets (automobiles, land, buildings, jewelry, etc.;
         4. Non-liquid assets such as stocks, bonds, equities, retirement accounts;
         5. Income tax returns; or
         6. Attestations or affidavits stating only that a sponsor can meet the expenses.

   3. A photocopy of your passport ID page(s). Your passport must be valid at least 6 months into the future.
   4. Original and official secondary school and/or college transcripts, diplomas, and exit exam scores officially translated to English;
   5. As a speaker of English as a second language you will need to submit official test score results from your TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo examination.
3. Submit all materials
   All application materials and supporting documents can be uploaded to the application portal or emailed to admissions@nmc.edu. Upon receipt of electronic documents, we reserve the right to request official and original documents be sent to the Admissions Office at 17吃瓜 via postal delivery.

4. Explore housing options
   If you will be applying to live on campus in our Residence Halls or Campus Apartments, be sure to complete all necessary application forms as early as possible to guarantee placement. Visit the Housing section of our website to learn more and to apply. Students have the option to live in off-campus housing as well. Please be advised that off campus housing options may be limited and costly.
