Staff HR Policy D-740.00
Institutional Effectiveness Criterion: Culture
Non-Exempt (Hourly) Employee Work Hours Policy
-
non-exempt (hourly) employee work hours
Standard weekly working hours and schedule will be determined by the supervisor based on departmental need and available budget. -
Time records
All actual time worked must be recorded on the employee's time sheet by each employee and reviewed and approved by the supervisor. It is the responsibility of each non-exempt employee to record actual work time accurately. By submitting a time sheet, each employee attests and agrees that his/her time sheet shows all time actually worked for the pay period and that he/she did not work any time that is not reflected on the time sheet. If an employee believe that his/her time sheet was submitted with inaccurate information, he/she must contact payroll before the end of the next pay period to request a correction. -
Hours Beyond Established norms and overtime computation
Non-Exempt employees may not work any hours beyond what is scheduled without preapproval by the supervisor. The employee's hourly rate will apply until 40 hours are reached. Any time actually worked in excess of 40 hours in a one-week period will be paid at the overtime rate of time and one-half the regular rate of pay. Paid College holidays and other paid leave time will also be used in the computation of overtime. -
Work Breaks and lunch hours
The normal, full time work day allows one hour for lunch, one fifteen minute work break in the morning, and one fifteen minute work break in the afternoon. Part-time staff who work at least four continuous hours may have one fifteen minute work break during this period. Work breaks count as paid time, cannot be accumulated, and cannot be used to make up time. Lunch hours and work breaks must be coordinated with the supervisor and are subject to change based on operational needs.
