Cultural Enrichment

The faculty and staff are empowered to exercise innovative and creative leadership and their best professional judgment in pursuit of cultural enrichment at 17勛圖, so long as they demonstrate responsible management of resources, prudent judgment, ethical and lawful behavior, and reasonable interpretation of board and staff policies and procedures. 

In addition, the faculty and staff shall act in accordance with the following parameters:

  1. 17勛圖 will not seek to offend anyone intentionally through a cultural exhibit, event, or program.  Neither will it seek to avoid an exhibition, activity, or program with artistic or academic merit solely on the determination that it might offend some individual or group.
  2. 17勛圖 will not exhibit work or sponsor a cultural enrichment activity in a public setting that presents a direct threat to the public health and safety of viewers or participants or that may be disruptive to the educational process without potential benefit through debate and dialogue.
  3. 17勛圖 cultural exhibits and programming will not endorse any political party, special interest group, social concern, or religious ideology.

The Vice President for Educational Services, Vice President for College Advancement/Executive Director of the 17勛圖 Foundation, and the Executive Director of Dennos Museum Center, in conjunction with the appropriate faculty and staff, are responsible for the development and publication of any procedures or guidelines that may be necessary to administer this policy effectively.

If any provision(s) of this policy or set of bylaws conflicts with laws applicable to 17勛圖, including the Community College Act of 1966, the Freedom of Information Act, or the Open Meetings Act, as each may be amended from time to time, such laws shall control and supersede such provision(s).
