Institutional Effectiveness Criterion: Scholarship
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
The is designed primarily to meet the specific educational and career objectives of students who plan to enter the nursing workforce following graduation. A nursing career specialty emphasis is the dominant characteristic of the program. Some students may also elect to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Those who plan to transfer should see an academic advisor.
- Communications: 6-8 semester hours.
English Composition (ENG 111 and 112). - Humanities: 3 semester hours. (Group 1*)
- Science: 8 semester hours in science or transfer equivalent.
Must include Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II (BIO 227 and BIO 228). - Social Science requirement: 3 semester hours
Introduction to Psychology (PSY 101). - Math Competency: Fulfilled through competency testing or with a grade of 2.0 or better completion of Intermediate Algebra (MTH 111) or Math Exploration (MTH 120).
- Allied Health: 1 credit hour
HAH 100c Informatics Essentials - Occupational Specialty: 43 semester hours of Nursing (HNR) courses.
Notes:
- Students must complete at least 16 of the 64 semester hours at 17勛圖.
- Basic skill courses (numbers under 100) do not count toward graduation, even though they may be needed as a prerequisite to required courses.
- A grade of 2.0 or higher is required for the following prerequisite courses: ENG 111, PSY 101. Each of the courses in the Anatomy and Physiology sequence (BIO 227, BIO 228) require a 2.5. A grade of 2.5 or higher is required for all courses with HNR prefixes and HAH 100c.
- Otherwise, a grade of 1.0 or higher is required for course completion. However, students should be aware that simply completing a course is not always sufficient to meet degree requirements (see above) or to satisfy prerequisite requirements for other courses or transfer.
- Graduation with an Associate Degree in Nursing from 17勛圖 requires that a student complete at least 64 earned semester hours with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

- Repeat classes: Any math and/or science class may only be repeated once. This includes fails, drops, withdrawals, or transferred classes. (Effective June 1, 2012)

The Vice President for Educational Services, in conjunction with the appropriate faculty and staff, is responsible for the development and publication of any procedures or guidelines that may be necessary to administer this policy effectively.
If any provision(s) of this policy or set of bylaws conflicts with laws applicable to 17勛圖, including the Community College Act of 1966, the Freedom of Information Act, or the Open Meetings Act, as each may be amended from time to time, such laws shall control and supersede such provision(s).
