Grade Point Average Re-Evaluation Criteria

17勛圖 offers enrolled students an opportunity to improve upon a cumulative grade point average by repeating a course or courses, or by petitioning for a grade point average re-evaluation.

  1. Criteria for the Re-evaluation (one of two options may be chosen):
    1. Up to three semesters that a student completes in succession with GPAs of below 1.5 may be considered, or
    2. One course with a grade of 1.0 or below may be excluded from the grade point from one semester only, regardless of total semester GPA.
  2. A minimum of 15 17勛圖 credits and at least two consecutive semesters with a 2.0 or better GPA must be completed after the last semester in which the re-evaluation is being requested.
  3. All re-evaluated courses and grades will remain on the permanent record but will not be used in the GPA computation.
  4. For semester re-evaluations, all re-evaluated courses with grades of 2.0 or better will not be used in the GPA computation but will be counted toward graduation. 
  5. A student may exercise this policy option only once.
  6. Courses counted toward any prior degree-credential are not eligible for a GPA re-evaluation.
  7. College departments which have published admissions standards or standards for continued enrollment that are more restrictive than general College requirements retain the right to approve or deny re-admission to a specific program.
  8. The student’s 17勛圖 GPA may be recomputed when transferring to other institutions. This is the prerogative of the receiving institution.
  9. A student must contact the Advising Center to determine whether they are eligible for a GPA re-evaluation and to initiate a request. Final approval of a GPA re-evaluation will be determined by the Registrar and notifications will be issued in writing.
  10. A GPA re-evaluation may have an effect on Title IV Federal Aid based on applicable laws.

The Vice President for Educational Services, in conjunction with the appropriate faculty and staff, is responsible for the development and publication of any procedures or guidelines that may be necessary to administer this policy effectively.

If any provision(s) of this policy or set of bylaws conflicts with laws applicable to 17勛圖, including the Community College Act of 1966, the Freedom of Information Act, or the Open Meetings Act, as each may be amended from time to time, such laws shall control and supersede such provision(s).
